About the event
Surrender to the divinity of feminine healing, sacred melodies, and the gift that is nature. In this 2-hour workshop, guided by Mitzi Kincade and Kinzie Ramirez, we will weave the traditional medicine of Mexican rebozos with the ancient healing of sound in the middle of the Rocky Mountains for a morning that brings you home to yourself.
A rebozo is a traditional, hand-woven Mexican shawl that serves as both a beautiful garment and a sacred healing tool. Historically, women use it as a daily wrap, a carrier for babies, or a sling to hold heavy goods. However, it plays an important role in traditional Mexican medicine and midwifery.
Because of its unique, sturdy weave, traditional midwives (parteras) use it to gently lift, rock, and wrap women during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum to relieve pain and ease transitions. Today, the rebozo is used in holistic spaces as a powerful tool for somatic bodywork, helping to calm the nervous system and relieve anxiety through the comforting power of deep, secure containment.
We’ll gather in a supportive sisterhood circle where you’ll get to practice these techniques on each other, giving every woman a chance to both give and receive this beautiful medicine one-on-one.
Held in this safe circle of embrace and sisterhood, you’ll learn how to wrap your partner in a traditional Rebozo shawl, creating a gentle, uniform pressure that feels like a secure, full-body hug. Through gentle lifting, cradling, and rhythmic rocking, you'll experience a floating, weightless sensation that mimics a comforting maternal heartbeat. Completely cocooned from the outside world in this sacred women's space, your body can finally drop its guard and fall into a deep rest.
As we gather in a rebozo-woven circle, Kinzie will play a variety of healing instruments, including crystal bowls, a gong, a shaman drum, bamboo chimes, and nut chimes.
We will conclude the event with sun tea that brews beside us, infusing it with the healing vibrations of the sound bath.
